The story of Theo the Squirrel in the Testerhof

Once upon a time.... (yes, that's how all stories start) there was a really poor farmer in the Tuxer Valley. He lived at a farm called Testerhof.

The farmer had to work hard everyday to have something to eat. It was a hard life in the usually so wonderful mountains, but the old farmer was satisfied with what he had.

One day, the diligent man saw a huge foot print on his meadow. And, behind the big tree in the middle of the field, the farmer discovered a mann. This man was so huge, that he could pick the nuts from the tree without any problems. After the giant ate almost all nuts, he lay down under the tree and fell asleep soundly like a log immediately. His snoring rolled through the entire valley like a thunder. The poor farmer was scared, how could he oust teh giant from his meadow? And then, he remembered his friend Theo. With a loud whistle he lured the sweet squirrel. Those two whispered in a secret language. Theo feared the giant as well, but he did not want the giant to eat all the nuts. And then, Theo remembered his magic power. 

Very slowly, he said a magic spell in his secret language. The giant woke up and started up. The spell started to work immediately.

The giant turend into a tree, his legs into a thick tree-trunk. Since that day, a second, even bigger tree was growing on the alpine meadow near the Testerhof.

The poor farmer and Theo became even bigger friends.
And even today, you can still see a part of this tree lying in front of the Testerhof. 

And yes... if the poor farmer and the squirrel were still alive today... they would definitely sit on the trunk in front of the Testerhof, enjoying the many kids walking in and out....

From the poor farmer, the Testerhof as it is today, has its name and Theo is famous yet... the squirrel became our mascot.

And nowadays our kids undergo many adventures with Theo, they hike and climb just as brave as Theo...
